I'm an eLearning Consultant who began his career as a News Photographer over 20 years ago. As the Video Services Coordinator at a top 10 hospital, I began producing patient and staff education videos. When tape video went digital, these videos moved to the web and led me on a path to Instructional Design and Technology. I still love producing videos and these are frequent assets to my course designs, but I am now fully immersed in all aspects of instructional systems designs.
An eLearning Consultant is often asked to assume many different roles. Sometimes I'm writing or reviewing storyboards as an Instructional Designer, sometimes I'm developing a course, or program or trying to find a way to make a "just in time" resource pop with engagement. I often strategize with program managers to design blended learning programs that combine the structure of classroom training with supporting online application training such as simulations. These sometime require a dashboard or interface that I try to design with the latest learning techniques, like gaming and avatars.
To build amazing instructional system designs and online courses and programs, you need to be a craftsman with the tools available. So I am extremely proficient using the Articulate Suite, as well as, Adobe Captivate and the Adobe Creative Suite. I also utilize tools such as Easy Sketch Pro, Crazy Talk Animator, animated gifs, text to speech software, and many others to help leverage my abilities.
